9 WAYS TO REDUCE the pain & expense of divorce

1. have your lawyer do a marriage contract and work on the marriage for 90 days.
2. if your lawyer is a mediator, have him do a marriage mediation
3. If your marriage doesn't work out, have him mediate the divorce
4. if you file for divorce, get to court quickly.
5. Try collaborative divorce.
6. if you have a custody case, have your lawyer set a hearing ASAP, and get your case heard.
7. If you're going to negotiate, set a time limit for the hours your lawyer spends
8. Divorce, child support and custody are major purchases. Decide what you can afford and give your lawyer your budget
9. If you have tons of money, get a prenup, do whatever you want, and remember your kids.

In Harris county, its usually as simple as filling out a focus form and activating the wage witholding order. The FOCUS form sets up the account at the Texas Disbursement Unit, and the wage witholding form causes the wgewitholding ORDER to be sent to the child suppport payor's employer.
